We are looking for a Senior Shopify Engineer to take full ownership of a highly customized Shopify ecosystem and its connected systems. This is a long-term opportunity (1 year, renewable) with a US-based client in the Sports Tech vertical.
The ideal candidate is a one-person powerhouse who can manage, repair, document, and launch new initiatives within a complex environment, ensuring both technical excellence and cost efficiency.
What You’ll Do
● Take ownership of the entire Shopify implementation, from architecture to deployment.
● Manage integrations with AWS services (Lambdas, DynamoDB, Cognito, Step Functions) and third-party platforms (Recharge, Segment, Braze, MUX, SES, PayPal, etc.).
● Work with a customized Shopify environment (far beyond vanilla Shopify).
● Support frontend stacks including Next.js, Gatsby, React, NGINX, and CloudFront.
● Document and streamline processes to reduce tech debt and ensure maintainability.
● Fill critical gaps in processes such as PR reviews, ticket handling, Jira workflows, and GitHub pipelines.
● Provide stability during high-demand seasons (e.g., holiday sales) and upcoming ADA-related projects.
What We’re Looking For
● 5–7 years of experience in Shopify development (Liquid, APIs, apps, custom tools).
● Proven ability to work independently and deliver in environments with little to no documentation.
● Strong background in system integrations and custom API connections.
● Experience balancing cost optimization with robust engineering practices.
● Comfortable operating as a solo developer within a complex ecosystem.
● Excellent communication skills and C1+ English level (mandatory).
